A Lesson about Drugs

A lesson devised by a group of ESOLteachers working at a Functional Skills for ESOL learners workshop at NATECLA 3rd March 2012.

Brainstorm different drugs, e.g. List 6-10

Lead in

Vocabulary review of language for effects of drugs.

Controlled activity

Sequence the life-story of a drug addict. Then follow up with detailed reading questions.

a resource for ss to create

Follow up with discussion about drawbacks, impact of addiction, etc.

Then ss create health promotion leaflet / poster about one drug per group.

    would be interested to see what vocabulary for effects of drugs you reviewed.
